This award is where our fund began! After Lower Moreland School District asked us if they could create an award in Carol's name, we were moved. We also wanted to make this a long-standing award in Carol's honor. As a family, with support from the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), we increased the amount of the award to $1,000 and agreed to keep it going for the long term.
Here is what the award is all about:
"The Carol Lusignea Memorial Award is awarded to a student that exemplifies Carol’s qualities of compassion, kindness, positivity, leadership skills and a dedication to healthy living. This student is interested in pursuing a career focused on Carol’s passion for teaching, health, fitness, or sports and recreation wellness."
Lauren, Lindsay, and Brian had the honor of introducing this award on June 1, 2023, to the students, parents, and faculty at Lower Moreland High school. Some of the parents in attendance had Carol as a coach or teacher, and a majority of the students had Carol as a teacher. Needless to say, there were not many dry eyes in the room.

The Senior Awards Committee at Lower Moreland High School chooses the recipient, and this year they chose Isabella Gioia who is intending to study Health Sciences at University of Miami so she can become a Pediatrician to help kids stay happy and healthy. After the award ceremony, Bill and Lindsay got to meet Isabelle. She shared with us the positive, lasting impact Carol ("Mrs. Lusignea") had on her as a teacher.
Carol loved going to the high school graduation each year. She would be so proud of all her students.
With your continued financial support to our Fund, this award will be provided for on an annual basis.
